How to Reserve a Library Study Room and Discussion Room
The NCTU Library provides study rooms and discussion rooms, offering a comfortable space for students and faculty who need to focus on their studies or engage in discussions. These spaces operate under a self-service management system and require reservations. Below are the detailed reservation procedures and important guidelines.
Reservation Procedure
Reservations for study and discussion rooms must be made online through the Study Room Management System. On-the-spot reservations are not available.
Reservation Rules
- Reservation Time: Reservations are made daily, and bookings can be made up to seven days in advance.
- Opening Hours: Daily from 08:00 to 22:00. Reservations that are not completed within the allotted time will be considered unsuccessful.
- No Overnight Reservations: All reservations are only valid for the same day and cannot be made for consecutive days.
Eligibility for Reservation
Those who meet the following criteria are eligible to use the study rooms and discussion rooms:
- Full-time faculty members of the university
- Graduate students
- Senior undergraduate students (must present a valid ID)
Reservation Process
- Log in to the Study Room Management System.
- Select the desired date and time slot for the reservation.
- Fill in the reservation details and confirm the booking.
Important Notices
- Users must comply with the library's reading regulations. Violations may result in penalty points.
- After use, please keep the environment clean to maintain a good study space for everyone.

How to apply to be a Course or Equipment Teaching Assistant?
Teaching Assistant (TA) Application Eligibility and Procedures
Eligibility:
Master's and doctoral students in the Department of Materials Science (priority for instrument TAs is given to doctoral students in their first to fourth year).
Instrument TA Application Procedures:
1. Recommendation by Advisor: Each advisor may recommend up to three students.
2. Submission of Application Form: Complete the instrument TA application form legibly, have it signed by your advisor, and submit it to Ms. Huang Xiuyin (Room EF110).
3. Priority Selection: Applicants may list up to three preferred instruments in order of priority and must possess the relevant instrument qualification certificates.
4. Preliminary and Final Selection: After the initial review, the list will be sent to the respective instrument managers for final selection.
5. Announcement of Results: The final list of selected candidates will be announced after discussion and approval by the Instruments Committee.
Course TA Application Procedures:
For course TAs, simply fill out the application form and obtain approval from the course instructor.

How to Reserve a Classroom in Engineering Building 6
Engineering Building 6 offers multiple classrooms for teaching and activities, but a reservation must be made according to the regulations. The following provides a detailed explanation of the reservation process and essential guidelines to ensure a smooth application.
Reservation Process
Log in to the NYCU Portal and access the "Classroom Reservation System (NCTU Campus)."
Click "Add New Classroom Reservation", then review and proceed.
Select the reservation date and time slot, ensuring no scheduling conflicts.
Select the classroom you wish to reserve.
Print the "Department of Materials Engineering Building 6 Classroom Reservation Application Form."
Fill in the application details and obtain the department chair’s stamp.
Submit the application form to the department office for approval.
Available Classrooms
The available classrooms in Engineering Building 6 and their seating capacities are as follows:
EF201 (Approximately 81 seats)
EF202 (Approximately 51 seats)
EF205 (Approximately 65 seats)
EF207 (Approximately 67 seats)
Reservation Rules and Restrictions
Purpose of Reservation:
Primarily for departmental teaching purposes, including undergraduate and graduate courses, as well as department-organized events.
Not available for reservation by student clubs, camps, or other departments to prevent noise and management issues.
Application Deadline:
If reserving an unassigned time slot, applications can be submitted up to one month in advance. Applicants must provide relevant personnel insurance supporting documents and obtain approval from the administrator before use.
Department Student Association Reservation Rules:
A deposit of 1,000 NTD is required. If the venue is restored to its original condition and no equipment is damaged after the event, the deposit will be refunded.
Reservation and Return Regulations:
Key Pickup: Must be collected from the department office during office hours.
Key Return: Must be returned on time after use. If delayed, preventing others from using the room, future reservations may be restricted.
Responsibility for Venue Maintenance:
After use, restore desks and chairs to their original positions, turn off lights and air conditioning, and securely lock doors and windows.
If improper use results in equipment damage or loss, the borrower is responsible for repairs or compensation.
