Winny Dong is a Professor of Chemical and Materials Engineering who has held various roles at Cal Poly Pomona since joining in 2000. Known for her expertise, dedication to student support, and commitment to reducing the achievement gap for first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented students, she has led and/or founded several programs at Cal Poly Pomona. These initiatives encourage student research, provide academic support, and ease the pathway to graduate studies. Her projects include the Office of Undergraduate Research, Achieve Scholars Program, Engineering Scholars Program, Engineering Projects in Community Service (EPICS), and the McNair Scholars Program. Dong was recognized by the White House in 2021 as a recipient of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Mentoring.
